Canary Cruise

Our Fred Olsen cruise ship Balmoral docked at Santa Cruz de La Palma, the capital of La Palma. This island has a heavy terrain, a forest with volcanoes. Santa Cruz is a port city with narrow cobbled streets and houses with wooden balconies. We walked well with Lorna and Kevin to Los Cancajos along the beach to the airport. Later that day we took a walk around Santa Cruz and some afternoon drinks.

The next day we arrive in Tenerife which is the largest in the Spanish Canary Islands. It is dominated by active volcanoes which are the highest peaks of Spain. We wore our warm clothes for our visit to Mt. Teide Good job too because it is quite cold on top with strong cold winds. Long cable car queues above and below. We only had time for a short walk from the top of the cable car but the view was quite amazing. it is also an interesting journey to and from the mountain along a mountain road that rotates through the clouds.
